I’ve been reading comic books for over 60 years, since the age of 4. Unlike most kids, I just never outgrew them. My collection ranges from the Golden Age to the present, with an emphasis on DC Comics.
While I’ve always bought a vast number of comics each month to maintain those full runs, the demands of my career and personal life left me woefully behind in my reading – so much so that I am just now reading books that were published 10 years ago! I’ve recently retired, so theoretically I have time to catch up, but I’m not sure that’s ever going to happen.
Still, I find that the time gap provides some additional perspective to what I’m reading. The good books are even more impressive, and the rest are more easily dismissible. Hopefully this will allow me to clue readers in to search out “the good stuff” and avoid the rest.
Along the way, I may also share some of my own stories and reflections on my collecting life. No “attic finds”, but perhaps some tales of interest.
At any rate, I wanted to learn how to blog – so let’s go!
